SFC George E. Sandefur was born May 21, 1937 in Washington County, Virginia to Samuel M. Sandefur and Hattie V. (DeBord) Sandefur. He married Delilah (Dee) Sandefur on December 30, 1959 in Weldon, N.C. and was looking forward to celebrating their 55th wedding anniversary this month. He is survived by his wife and children, Bruce and Linda Sandefur of Mt. Home, TX, Beth Sandefur of Houston, TX, Marci Overfield of Round-Rock, TX, and Mark and Tammy Sandefur of Springfield, OR. He will also be greatly missed by his nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.\r\n \r\nSFC George E. Sandefur entered the US Army in 1955 and had a long and distinguished career that included tours in Korea and Vietnam. He received awards for being the top Nursing Recruiter for Chicago 1966, several Army Commendation Medals, and numerous service awards. He retired in 1973.\r\n \r\nSFC George E. Sandefur earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Saint Mary's University in San Antonio on May 1989. He was also a member of PSI CHI, the National Honor Society for Psychology.\r\n \r\nA Memorial Mass will be held on Tuesday, December 9, 9:30 AM at Notre Dame Catholic Church in Kerrville. \r\n \r\nThe family has asked that in lieu of Flowers, that donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, www.woundedwarriorproject.org , in the name of SFC George E.
