George E. Barnet, 79, of Bandera, Texas, went to be with his Lord and Savior on April 3, 2018 at his home in Bandera, Texas. He was born in Houston, Texas, to William E. Barnet, Sr. and Violet Barnet on August 15, 1938. He married Linda Foegelle on February 20, 1982, in Bandera, Texas. \r\n\r\nHe went to school in Humble, Texas, and graduated from there in 1956. He served as Deacon at First Baptist Church, Center Point, Texas. He worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company for 34 years as a lineman and later an engineer. After retiring, he opened Deer Run Taxidermy and enjoyed many years doing what he loved and made many new friends. George enjoyed hunting, fishing, yard work, and watching wildlife.\r\n\r\nHe is preceded in death by his parents, William E. Barnet, Sr. and Violet Barnet and brother William E. Barnet, Jr. George is survived by spouse, Linda Barnet, sons David Barnet (Michelle) and Gene Barnet (Kerrie), daughter Leah Short (Joe Brad), 9 grandchildren, Christopher Barnet (Sarah), Brandon Barnet (Ashley), Bryson Barnet, Jacob Barnet, Charles Barnet, Myrissa Dees (Dustin), Joseph Short, Connor Short, and Ian Short; and 3 great grandchildren, brother Jerry Barnet of Utopia, brother Albert Barnet of Livingston, Texas, and sister Esther Sorter of New Caney, Texas. \r\n\r\nViewing will be Thursday, April 5, 2018 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Bandera, Texas. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 6 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church, Bandera, with Pastors Mike Herrington and David Collett officiating. Burial will follow at Bandera Cemetery.\r\n\r\nPallbearers will be grandsons Christopher Barnet, Brandon Barnet, Bryson Barnet, Jacob Barnet, Charles Barnet, Joseph Clay Short, Ian Short, and Dustin Dees. Obituary will be read by granddaughter Myrissa Dees.\r\n\r\nThe family wishes to extend sincere thanks to the nurses, staff and Chaplin, Paul Marks, of Kindred Hospice Organization, Pastor Mike Herrington, Pastor David Collett, and First Baptist Church, Bandera, Texas, and all family and friends who kept them in their thoughts and prayers for the last five years of his illness. \r\n\r\nMemorials may be given to First Baptist Church Building Fund, Bandera, Texas, St. Jude's Children's Hospital or Shriner's Hospital for Children.\r\n
