Freda Lea Eskew, 92, of Center Point, TX passed away on December 7, 2015 in Kerrville, TX. She was born in Olcott, WV to French L. DeBord and Rhoda Mae Holstein DeBord on August 6, 1923. She married Harold B. Eskew on October 16, 1941 at home in Olcott, WV (Kanawha County).\r\n \r\nShe went to Olcott schools and graduated from Washington District High School. She was a homemaker for her years of marriage, always managing the "home front" and staying current on the events and activities of her children's lives.\r\n \r\nShe was always active in church activities, being a Sunday School teacher for the teens for many years, impacting their lives for Jesus. In later years, she was a member of the original "Joy Bells" Bell Choir here at the Seventh Day Adventist Church; also, she was most active in the "Happy Notes" choir, singing to the "top of her lungs," "O What a Happy Day!" Our mom was a vital part of the Community Service Group here at our church; they made quilts for the Medina Children's Home and the K-Star Children with "love bags" to hold the children's "special things." Mom was a fantastic "Greeter" for our church services.\r\n \r\nOur mom was never a "status seeker" on this earth...but her heart's efforts were always pointing Heavenward where her "treasure" awaits. Bottom line, she was the BEST!\r\n \r\nFreda is preceded in death by her husband, Harold B. Eskew; brothers, Talmadge, Gene, and Jim DeBord; sisters, Virginia Midkiff and Fay Bell.\r\n \r\nFreda is survived by sons, Larry T. Eskew and HB Eskew, Jr. and wife Mary Ann; daughters, Ms. Patricia Swofford and Kristy Eskew; brother, French R. "Tink" DeBord and wife, Sue; sisters, Joy Pauley and Sherry DeHart and husband, Eric. Freda has 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. A special person in Mom's life is Kim Eskew, who always went the "extra mile" to add to Mom's happiness!\r\n \r\nHer Memorial service will be held at 3 pm on Sunday, December 20, 2015 at the Kerrville Seventh Day Adventist Church on 611 Harper Rd., Kerrville, TX, with Pastor Logan Schultz officiating. Her ashes will be interred at a family cemetery at a later date.\r\n \r\nMemorials may be given to Special Olympics and/or MHMR.\r\n \r\nThe Eskew/DeBord families wish to extend our sincere thanks to River Hills Health and Rehab Administrative and Nursing Staff for being so caring and giving to our mom/sister/"Mammaw"; Also, to Dr. Veurink for his special orthopedic surgical intervention and compassionate care of Mom. My special thanks and love to the "300 Wing" crew-they deserve major "Kudos." I offer my most heartfelt gratitude to this Seventh Day Adventist Church for the love and compassion you have always shown our mom and my family; you are the absolute best church family!
