Fred Lee Richardson, 70, of Comfort, Texas passed away on Monday, January 9, 2017 at the Audie L. Murphy Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas. Fred was born in Tyler, Texas to James Henry Richardson and Sarah Francis Richardson on July 26, 1946. He grew up in Tyler, Texas and graduated from the University of North Texas with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1968. He obtained his Master's degree in psychology from Texas Tech University in 1972. He was a Licensed Professional Counselor and practiced therapy for over 45 years, in both private practice and facility settings with a specialty in recovery counseling.\r\n \r\nFred was a Bronze star recipient for his service in the US Army during Viet Nam between 1968 and 1970 when he was honorably discharged as a Sergeant. Fred enjoyed gardening, fishing, opera music, traveling, and his family. \r\n \r\nHe is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Adele Richardson of Comfort, Texas; son, Christopher Brian Richardson (Melanie) of Albuquerque, New Mexico; daughter, Kathryn Leigh (Christopher Schloss) of Texas City, Texas; son, Michael James Richardson of Houston, Texas; daughter, Shelli Elizabeth (Matthew Johnson) of Comfort, Texas; daughter, Christi Lynn (Rudy Carson) of Comfort, Texas; his older brother, James Henry Richardson (Maureen) of Livingston, Texas; grandchildren, Amy Rose Richardson and Elizabeth Marie Richardson of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Rayven Faith Schloss and Donovan Cole Schloss of Texas City, Texas and Gavin Charles Vandergrift of Comfort, Texas. He is also survived by his great-grandsons, Greyson Charles Vandergrift and Brody Lane Vandergrift, also of Comfort, Texas. \r\n \r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents. \r\n \r\nA memorial service will be held at 2 pm, Saturday, January 21, 2017 at Grimes Funeral Chapels with Pastor Donna Magee officiating. \r\n
