Floyd Lewis

February 14, 1920 — September 29, 2017

Floyd Lewis was called home to be with the Lord on Friday, September 29, 2017 in Kerrville, Texas. He was born on February 14, 1920 to the parentage of Paul and Beulah Lewis in Chappell Hill, Texas. He moved to Kerrville in 1944 and on December 24, 1947, he was united in Holy Matrimony to Miss Ellie V. Foley. To this union one child was born, Deborah Jean Lewis Shaw.\r\n \r\nFloyd worked in Asphalt and Construction and was well-known all over Kerr County as he became a FRIEND to everyone he met.\r\n \r\nFloyd was a faithful member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church for over 60 years. He held many positions in the church throughout the years; however, he truly cherished his service as a Deacon. He felt it was his job to stay aware of anything the church needed...He believed in helping those in need, especially the elderly and the widows. Before Floyd lost his eyesight at 92 years old, he was known for "carefully" driving his "Blue" truck all over town making frequent visits to the homebound, the elderly, and the widows...Many of them he visited on a daily basis just to check on them and see if everything was alright.\r\n \r\nHe was preceded in death by both parents and his wife of 63 years, Ellie; one sister, Gladys Summerfield; and 3 brothers, Conroy, Woodrow, and an infant baby boy.\r\n \r\nHe leaves to cherish his memory his devoted daughter, Deborah and his pride and joy... his grandson, Mark Anthony Shaw & wife, Sophie; two sisters, Lorene Harrison and Zelma Crawford, both of Houston Texas. Also left to cherish his memory are his brother-in-law, Albert Summerfield of Louisiana; and four sisters-in-law, Helen Mitchell of Kerrville, Mae Foley and Constance Foley of San Antonio and Margaret Foley of Houston Texas; his Godchild, Camry Warren and his "Adopted Niece", Lois Shaw, both of Kerrville; and a host of nieces and nephews and friends. However, Floyd's family list would be incomplete without including his three "Adopted Sons", Clarence (Rat) Benson, Danny Garces and Mike Green all of Kerrville. Floyd desired hearing from his family members each week...But he lived for a visit from his Gunsmoke buddy, Charles (Penny) Shaw every morning and a visit from his youngest "adopted" son, Mike Green and niece, Lois Shaw every evening.\r\n \r\nServices will be held 1 PM, Monday, October 2, 2017 at Mt. Olive Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Noah Diggs. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery.\r\n
