Florence Honea departed this life on Monday, Sept. 14, 2015, at the age of 92. \r\n\r\nShe was born Florence Rose Deibner on March 29, 1923, in Kerrville, Texas, to Don Gilbert and Annie Claire Deibner. \r\n\r\nOn Oct. 1, 1938, she married Edward James Honea in San Angelo, Texas. Florence was a talented and gifted seamstress. She and Ed owned H&H Upholstery together for more than half a century. Her work has graced many local homes and businesses. She was a devoted member of First United Methodist Church, was a student of the Bible and participated in Bible study groups. Florence embraced literature and was an avid and passionate lover of all books. \r\n\r\nShe had tremendous love for wildlife and raised many species of birds. Most importantly, Florence was a true matriarch of her family. Her wisdom, advice, grace, fortitude and non-judgmental ways have inspired and molded four generations of children and family that she has helped raise. Florence was affectionately known to all as their "Omi." \r\n\r\nFlorence is preceded in death by Edward Honea, Gerda Honea, Alan Bradford Rhoden and Michaela Katzer. \r\n\r\nShe is survived by John E. Honea, Rosemary Rhoden, Dianne Poppe and husband, Hans, Gilbert Honea and wife, Sheri, Ted Honea and wife, Nancy, 18 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. \r\n\r\nServices will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 18, 2015, at Grimes Funeral Chapels. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Mark Honea, Scott Honea, Jeremy Poppe, Kris Rhoden, Jim Honea and Chad Honea. \r\n\r\nMemorials may be given to Mustard Seed Ministries, Hill Country Youth Ranch or a charity of one's choice.
