Evelyn Fox went peacefully to be with her Lord on July 3, 2017. She was surrounded by her family at her son and daughter-in-law's home in Hunt, Texas.\r\n \r\nShe was born March 9, 1926 to Elsie and Herald Brundrett in Stephenville, Texas where her father taught Botany at Tarleton State College. Evelyn lived in different areas of the U.S. due to her father's work with the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture as an entomologist (Gig ‘Em!). She had a special fondness for Uvalde, Texas, where she spent many happy years: graduating from Uvalde High School and working after graduation.\r\n \r\nAt age 19 she married Charles William Cross, a freshly graduated West Point cadet, who later died in an airplane accident while on active military duty.\r\n \r\nSeveral years later she met and married Edward John Fox, a career Air Force officer, who was her husband for 59 years, until his death in 2012. In his job as Air Attaché with the U.S. Embassy, they resided in South America and Europe and enjoyed traveling the world. "Ev" was a dedicated Embassy wife and that role suited her well. Upon retirement, they moved to their beloved home "El Cortijo" near Ingram on Johnson Creek. \r\n \r\nThroughout many years she put in happy hours working with the local Heart of the Hills Chapter of the Air Force Association. The Sid Peterson Memorial Hospital Auxiliary held a special place in her heart, as did the Ingram and Hunt Garden Clubs, the Cailloux Center and the Hill Country Arts Foundation. Her church, First Presbyterian Church of Ingram always remained a source of love and inspiration for her.\r\n \r\nEvelyn was preceded in death by her devoted husband Edward Fox, by her parents, a brother, "Bo" Herald Brundrett Jr. and a sister, Elaine Brundrett.\r\n \r\nShe is survived by daughter Candace (Cross) Johnston and husband Joe of Bay City, Texas; her son Terence "Chico" Fox and wife Catherine of Hunt, Texas; and son Joel B. Fox of San Antonio. Her sister Charlotte Brundrett of Austin, Texas survives her as well. Three grandsons are left to remember her with great love: Eric Johnston and wife Elaine of La Porte, Texas; Colin Johnston and wife Jessica of McKinney, Texas and Andrew Fox of Hunt, Texas. "Mina" (her grandma name) was blessed with three great grandsons: Ethan and Evrhett Johnston and William Johnston. She leaves numerous loving nieces, nephews and other family members in Texas as well as in Ohio and Maryland.\r\n \r\nEvelyn will be remembered for her deep love of everything in Nature: trees, wildlife, pets and especially flowers. She enjoyed sitting out on her patio at night under the stars; she dreamed of distant places to travel and was always ready for a new adventure. Many would say of her that she had a "unique" character and was "quite a lady…" She held her faith in God close to her heart, but she always knew to whom she belonged and relied on God's grace and mercy to see her through life's ups and downs; thanking Him in all things.\r\n \r\nA memorial service will be held Saturday, August 5, 2017 at the First Presbyterian Church in Ingram, Texas at 11:00 a.m. If so desired, wearing something pink would help us to remember a life well lived. \r\n \r\nGrandsons Eric, Colin and Andrew will be Honorary Pallbearers.\r\n \r\nMemorials may be given to Peterson Hospice or to the charity of your choice. Of course mother would say "Flowers are always welcome!"\r\n \r\nHer family wishes to extend sincere thanks to her longtime friend and physician Dr. James Young, to Peterson Hospice, to her friend and helpmate Virginia Rodriguez, as well as all the many health care professionals that helped to make her last years a bit easier.\r\n\r\n
