Eugene R. (Gene) Laue, age 101, of Lakehills, died Saturday, July 9, 2016 in Bandera, TX. He was born August 30, 1914 in San Antonio. Gene was a champion bowler in San Antonio during the 40s & 50s. He was a past Worshipful Master in Masonic Texas Lodge #8 and belonged to the Shriner Clowns. He was past Commander of the American Legion Post #410 in Lakehills and a lifetime member of the Lakehills VFD. Gene was an active member of St. Christopher's Episcopal Church in Bandera. Serving in the Army during WWII, he was the oldest WWII veteran in Bandera County. His profession was a dental supply salesman for Patterson Dental Supply.\r\n\r\nSurvivors include 2 daughters, Carol Jean Quick (M. L) of Victoria, Sandra Mauer (David) of Lakehills and one son, Eugene E. (Bubba) Laue (Terry) of San Angelo, a step-daughter, Patricia Biesenbach of Atascosa, a step-son, Don Carrell (Janie) of Harlingen, a brother, Charles E. Laue of Bandera, 8 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren. \r\n\r\nA memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, July 14, 2016 at St. Christopher's Episcopal Church in Bandera, with the Reverend Allan Conkling officiating. The family would like to thank Bandera Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center for their loving care and especially Monique Rhea, with whom he shared a special bond.\r\n\r\nMemorial donations may be made to St. Christopher's Episcopal Church, PO Box 314, Bandera, TX 78003 or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
