Eugene Bode

Eugene "Gene" Donald Bode, age 75, is now rejoicing in heaven after leaving this world on January 13, 2015 at Canterbury Court Nursing Home in Harlingen, Texas. \r\n \r\nBorn March 25, 1939, he lived in Harper, Texas all of his life. He began working at Bode Feed & Supply when he was just a young boy and later purchased the business from his father.\r\n \r\nBecause of his love of hunting and the great outdoors, he was an active member of the Exotic Wildlife Association and the Texas Wildlife Association for many years. His hunting adventures took him to many exciting places and the stories of his experiences were enjoyed by all.\r\n \r\nHe was very involved in his community and was proud to call Harper his hometown. He supported the school with fundraisers, helped initiate the town's water supply system and lovingly cared for the cemetery after his dad could no longer do so. Gene also served on the board of numerous associations.\r\n \r\nHe is preceded in death by his father, Floy B. Bode.\r\n \r\nGene is survived by his wife of 28 years, Margaret Bode; daughter, Julie Hattier and husband Mark; daughter, Janel Oldham and husband David; son, Dale Murden and wife Cyndie; daughter, Jenna Murden; and son, Stephen Murden and wife Staci. He also leaves behind 7 grandchildren: Scott Studer and wife Samantha, Lindsay Kaufman and husband Steve, Ryan Murden, Connor Oldham, Sebastian Murden, Meagan Murden and Gracie Faith Seale. Gene is survived by his mother, Virginia Bode; and his sister, Elaine Notario and her husband Jorge. He leaves behind one nephew, Nick Notario; an aunts, Amy Terrell and Laverne Parker; and multiple cousins, family and friends.\r\n \r\nVisitation will be held at Grimes Funeral Chapels in Kerrville on Friday, January 16th from 5:00 to 7:00pm. Funeral services will be at 10:00 am on Saturday, January 17th at Lighthouse Fellowship Church in Harper, Texas with burial to follow in Harper Community Cemetery.\r\n \r\nMemorial donations can be made to the Harper Community Cemetery, Lighthouse Fellowship Church or Harper EMS/Fire Department.\r\n \r\n[contact-form-7 id="73" title="Send Condolences"]
