Emma J. McHorse, age 72, of Kerrville, passed away on Tuesday, March 8, 2016. She was born on July 10, 1943 to Donald and Gladys (Reece) Jones in Dallas, Texas. \r\n \r\nShe grew up in Sabetha, KS, and graduated from Sabetha High School in 1961. Emma then moved to Topeka, Kansas to attend Clark Business College. She was an Executive Assistant for over 20 years. In June of 1985, she moved to Rapid City, South Dakota to marry George R. McHorse on July 1, 1985. In 1989, she became very active in the Rapid City Chapter of "Make Today Count", a support group for people with cancer, and other life threatening diseases. Emma rededicated her life to Christ in 1991. When George retired from the U.S. Air Force in January of 1994, they moved to Kerrville, Texas. She was a faithful member of Southern Oaks Baptist Church. \r\n \r\nSurvivors include her husband, George R. McHorse, Jr., of Kerrville; one daughter, Tami D. (Smith) Heagy of Kerrville; one step-daughter, Patricia (McHorse) Mogavero of Apple Valley, CA; one sister, Donna Cole of Hutchinson, MN; and numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald Ralph and Gladys Irene Reece Jones; 5 sisters, Carroll Atkinson, her twin sister Agnes Warga, Betty Fertig, Margaret Arthur, and Connie Jones. \r\n \r\nVisitation will be held 5-7 PM, Friday, March 11, 2016 at Grimes Funeral Chapels. \r\n \r\nA Celebration of Life will be held at 10 AM, Saturday, March 12, 2016, at Southern Oaks Baptist Church in Kerrville, with Pastor Joe Taylor officiating. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery, after which a reception will be held at Southern Oaks Baptist Church. \r\n \r\nHer family asks that any donations in her memory be made to Southern Oaks Baptist Church.
