Elma Keese

Elma Ruth Keese passed away Sunday, November 2, 2014 at the age of 93. She was born on January 9, 1921 in Mercedes, Texas to George Augustus Fikes and Stella Frances Jordan Fikes. After graduating from Mercedes High School in 1938 she moved to Corpus Christi, Texas where she was employed with the Hidalgo and Cameron Counties Water Control District No. 9. She married Eugene "Gene" R. Keese on August 4, 1946. They were married at her parent's home in Mercedes and resided in Corpus Christi for many years. In 1978 they moved to Kerrville, Texas where Ruth resided until her death. For many years she was employed at Schreiner University. Ruth was a devoted and faithful member of the Riverside Church of Christ.\r\n\r\nRuth is preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister Lillie Kleinecke and daughter Linda Peete. She is survived by a younger sister, Jane Fikes, of Corpus Christi and many nieces and nephews.\r\n\r\nFuneral services for Ruth will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 6, 2014 at Grimes Funeral Chapels with Olden Cooke and Al Horne officiating. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery.\r\n\r\nPallbearers will be Wayne Keese, Gary Keese, Mark Odle, Leroy Keese, Bob Keese, and Gene Bosse. Honorary pallbearers are R.L. Keese, J.D. Prior, Earl Herrington and Earl Keese.\r\n\r\nMemorials may be made to Arms of Hope in Medina, Texas or the children's home of one's choice.\r\n\r\n[contact-form-7 id="73" title="Send Condolences"]
