Edward Hunley, Jr.

Edward H. Hunley, Jr. of Kerrville, TX passed away on Tues., May 30, 2017 at the age of 90. Ed was born in Henning, IL in 1927 to Edward Harlan Hunley and Ethel McConnell Hunley. He graduated from Henning High School as Valedictorian and from the University of Illinois in 1949 with a BS degree in Agricultural Engineering. Ed was married to Jane Marie Sharp, also of Henning, IL in 1949 and they shortly moved to Davis, CA. The Hunley family later moved to Clayton, IL where he ran his own business and to Quincy, IL where he worked for and retired from Electric Wheel Co., a division of Firestone. After raising their family Ed and Jane moved to Scottsdale, AZ where he retired from Electric Wheel Co. and Ed later moved to Woodland, CA where he retired from Alcoa. On Valentine's Day, 2006 Ed was married to Evelyn Marie Price of Napa, CA and shortly thereafter they moved to Kerrville, TX. \r\n \r\nEd was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Harlan Hunley and Ethel Hunley Burnett; his wife, Jane Marie Hunley; and his youngest daughter, Pamela Hunley Bizaillion. \r\n \r\nHe is survived by his wife, Evelyn Price Hunley; his sister, Betty Lou Burnett Mooring; his son, Charles J. Hunley; his daughter, Linda Hunley Ford; and also Evelyn's daughters, Diane Jameson and Kimberly Hice and her son David Graham. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.\r\n \r\nEd served in community organizations and while living in Clayton, IL was past President and District Governor of Lions Club International. He was also a 66 year member of the B.P.O. Elks and was a current member of the Elks Lodge #2148 of Scottsdale, AZ. Ed loved to travel and was able to combine that with his love of sales work. He was a Sales Engineer for Electric Wheel Co. and after retiring from EWC he worked for Alcoa where he covered virtually the same territory of 11 western states, including Alaska and Hawaii. After retiring he continued to travel visiting nearly all 50 states and cruising to all parts of the world.\r\n \r\nVisitation will be Sunday evening June 4 from 5 to 7 pm at Grimes Funeral Chapels. Services will be Monday morning, June 5, 10 am at Grimes Funeral Chapels with burial following at Garden of Memories, on N. Hwy 16, Kerrville. A reception and refreshments will be held at the Vicksburg Village Clubhouse, 1300 DeGrasse Dr., Kerrville, following burial.\r\n \r\nEd and Evelyn donated to many charities, and if you wish to make a donation in lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Edward's name.\r\n
