Edward Ray Helms, 85, passed away on Monday, June 3, 2019 in Kerrville, TX. He was born in Honey Grove, TX to Dewey N. Helms and Lorene I. Hudgens on May 26, 1934. He married Anita M. Porter on August 5, 1960 in Bonham, TX.\r\n\r\nHe was a veteran of the Vietnam War in the U.S. Army, then went on to graduate from the University of Houston. He had a successful career as a Quality Control Engineer in Aerospace and military contracts. However, in 1991 he felt the call of our Lord Jesus Christ to go into full time ministry where he served as a pastor for 21 years. \r\n\r\nEdward Ray Helms is preceded in death by his parents, Dewey N. Helms and Lorene I. Hudgens; and his brother, Dewey Don Helms.\r\n\r\nEdward Ray Helms is survived by his wife, Anita Porter Helms; his siblings, Billy Helms and wife Wanda and Betty Vinski; sister-in-law, Faye Helms; 4 children; 8 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.\r\n\r\nFuneral services will be held 11:00 a.m. on the 8th of June at First Family Assembly of God Church with Pastor Phil Jackson and Pastor David R. Helms of Northview Community Church, officiating. Burial will follow on the 13th of June at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery at 11:15 a.m.\r\n
