Edward Henry "RED" Canada Jr., U.S.N. Retired, of Pipe Creek, formerly of Smithville, Texas, died August 4th, 2015.\r\n\r\nHe was born on August 23rd, 1933, in Smithville, Texas to Edward H. Canada, Sr. and Mary Bell Falen Canada. After graduating from Smithville High School in June of 1952, he enlisted in the United States Navy. He married Hortensia M. Rodriguez on April 29th, 1960 in San Diego, California. Red served 22 years and retired in March of 1974 as a Master Chief Personnelman.\r\n\r\nAfter retirement, he hired out as a locomotive engineer trainee, after training he was promoted to engineer, for the Missouri, Kansas, Texas Railroad (MKT) where he worked until that road was sold to the Union Pacific Railroad. Thereafter, he worked for three years as a Loan Officer at Randolph Brooks Federal Credit Union.\r\n\r\nWhile enjoying their retirement, they traveled full-time for five years and then spent summers in Ruidoso, New Mexico and winters in Pipe Creek, Texas.\r\n\r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and a brother.\r\n\r\nSurvivors include his wife Hortensia M. Canada; son Stanley J Canada and wife Cindy and daughter Marianna and son-in-law Alan R. Lambrecht of Montgomery, Texas; four grandchildren; one great grandson.\r\n\r\nGraveside services, with full military honors, are set for Friday, 10:45AM, August 7, 2015 at Fort Sam Houston Cemetery, Ft. Sam Houston, Texas.\r\n \r\n
