Douglas Dean Sieler, age 80, of Fredericksburg, passed away on Tuesday, January 30, 2018, in Kerrville, TX. He was born in Wishek, ND to Philip and Ella Sieler on January 4, 1938. He married Judy Lynell Sieler on September 11, 1960 in Spencer, NE.\r\n \r\nDoug grew up in Montana and attended Billings Senior High School. He played baseball for coach Ed Bayne on the American Legion team. He earned Varsity letters four years at the University of Nebraska where he graduated in 1961. He served in the ROTC while at school, was a veteran of the Vietnam War and served as a Captain in the Air Force. He completed flight school and became an instructor pilot. After leaving the service, he moved to New Jersey and worked for American Airlines the next 32 years. He retired to Fredericksburg where he lived and ranched the past 20 years.\r\n \r\nHis nicknames were "Seals" and Jumbo, due to his outsized personality, not his physical stature. Everyone he knew was given a nickname back. He loved to joke and make you laugh. He was passionate about his interests including flying, golf, tennis, sailing, chess, ping pong, reading, politics, Mozart, crab legs, tempura sauce and Pinot Noir. No other known person sent more emails than Doug these past two decades! What he loved most was living on the ranch and being with his extended family and great friends.\r\n \r\nHe was preceded in death by his father and mother, Philip and Ella; his brother, Dennis; and sister, Joyce.\r\n \r\nHe is survived by his wife Judy; sons, Lincoln and Ani Sieler, Shawn and Danielle Sieler, and Ryan; and daughter, Hilarie and Horacio Gutierrez. He is survived by his sister, Marilyn and Bob Kreiner, and her children, Dennis and Kelly Holmes. He is also survived by and so proud of his eight grandchildren, Kate, Will, Ana, Emily, Olivia, Abby, Gaby and Lexy.\r\n \r\nA Memorial Service will be held in Texas at his home on 6052 Friedrich Road from 2-5pm on Saturday, February 10, 2018, open to all.\r\n \r\nFuneral Services will be held in Billings, MT on Saturday, March 3, 2018 with a burial service at Sunset Memorial Gardens followed by a memorial service and reception.
