Douglas Henderson

February 7, 1957 — May 5, 2015

Doug Henderson, 58 of Kerrville passed away on Tuesday, May 5, 2015 in a local care center. He was born in Post, Texas on February 7th, 1957 to Charles Ray and Clorene Henderson.\r\n \r\nHe graduated from Abernathy High School in 1975. Doug was well known for enjoying a wide variety of jobs, from working in the agricultural and oil fields of the Pan Handle of Texas and was a long-haul, Over-the-Road truck driver and trainer. In addition, he worked for several years for Forke Truck, one of the world's largest big truck and equipment auctioneers. Also, he did regional truck driving for Nucor Steel of Jewett, Texas. And to prevent settling in a rut, he worked many years for independent roofers as an estimator. The only thing he never perfected was the ability to average 8 hours of sleep a night.\r\n \r\nHe married Juanita Shropshire on May 20, 1977 in New Deal, Texas. They had one son, Michael Chad, born on April 15, 1978. They were divorced in 1980. On July 28, 1988, in Athens, Texas, Doug married Lila Faith Jackson. She preceded him in death on October 9th, 1997.\r\n \r\nDoug is survived by son, Chad and daughter-in-law, Kendall of Temple, Texas; step-children, Noel, Angel, Gabriel, and Jonathan Daley; six grandchildren, from all over Texas; his parents, Charlie and Clorene Henderson of Kerrville; two brothers, Wade Henderson and wife Marcy of Lubbock, Texas, and Jimmy Henderson and wife Tracie of Frankston, Texas; sister, Kelly and her husband Robert Livingston of Albuquerque, New Mexico; and seven nieces and two nephews.\r\n \r\nMemorial services will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, May 23, 2015 at Sunrise Baptist Church, 1200 Broadway, Kerrville, Texas with the pastor, Dr. Melburn Hardin officiating.\r\n \r\nMemorials may be sent to Sunrise Baptist Church.\r\n \r\nThe family of Doug Henderson wishes to extend our sincere appreciation to the senior staff of River Hills Health and Rehabilitation Center, and to their nurses, especially Tasha and Arnie for their "above and beyond" care and certainly not last, Kathy Dunaway of Alamo Hospice for her very tender concern and care. The family desires to also extend sincere thanks and appreciation to the many other care givers at River Hills, friends that had stopped by and visited with Doug and the many phone calls he received while at River Hills. We love you all for your giving.\r\n \r\n[contact-form-7 id="73" title="Send Condolences"]
