Dorothy Evelyn Aldridge Wellborn was born November 17, 1931 in Kerrville. \r\n \r\nShe was preceded in death by her husband, Earl H. "Tumpy" Wellborn; parents, Jay Darrell Aldridge and Cleora Belle Smith Aldridge; and brother, Darrell Lynn Aldridge.\r\n \r\nShe is survived by daughters, Deborah Jean Wellborn and John Stevens, Audrey Louise Staudt and husband, Douglas, Bonnie Jo Brantley and husband, Joseph, Patty Ann Martin and Johnny Fee; grandchildren, Mary Elisabeth Kemp (Brian), Stephanie Staudt (Jonathan), Eric Teel, Rusty Staudt (Krystal), Cole Staudt (Rocio), Michael Teel, Shauni Jo Martin and Wyatt Martin; great-grandchildren, Ethan Teel, Kennedy Staudt, Emily and Kendall May, and soon to be, Aubrey Kemp and Slayter Fee.\r\n \r\nDorothy was raised on the south side of San Antonio. Being the daughter of a nurseryman, she would sell flowers in front of the downtown Sears store.\r\n \r\nAfter moving to Center Point where she finished school, she met Tumpy, the love of her life. They were married in 1950 and began their life together. \r\n \r\nThey moved to Boerne in the late 50's where they started ranching and raised four daughters.\r\n \r\nIn the mid 80's, they moved back to the family homestead in Center Point on the Verde Creek.\r\n \r\nAlong with Tumpy, Dorothy had a great passion for the land and their animals. Together they worked side by side until his death in 2004.\r\n \r\nVowing to honor his legacy, Dorothy continued caring for the land and her cows with the help of her daughters and her friends.\r\n \r\nDorothy died in her home on Monday, March 5, 2018 in the presence of her loving Lord and daughters. A place where she still felt close to Tumpy and a life that she loved and held dearly.\r\n \r\nVisitation will be held from 5-7 PM, Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at Grimes Funeral Chapels.\r\n \r\nServices will be held at 2 PM, Thursday, March 8, 2018 at Grimes Funeral Chapels officiated by Rev. Frankie Enloe. Interment will follow at Center Point Cemetery.\r\n \r\nIn lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to Peterson Hospice Care.\r\n
