Doris Kensinger

April 20, 1925 — June 15, 2019

Our beloved Mother entered her heavenly home at noon on Saturday, June 15, 2019, in Forney, TX, surrounded by her loving family. Doris Dorothy Buck Kensinger was born in Brentford, United Kingdom, on April 20, 1925, to Alfred and Dorothy Jakes Buck. She was the second daughter of five children. \r\n\r\nShe was a teen when World War II began and she did her part in serving her country by making radio tubes. It was toward the end of the war that she met a young Army Air Corps soldier from Walnut, Kansas, Clyde Kensinger and they fell in love. When the war ended in 1945, before she turned 21, Clyde asked her to marry him. Her father would not let her go to the United States until she became 21. In June 1946, she arrived at Ellis Island in New York and then traveled to Kansas where she and Clyde were married on June 28, 1946. They then moved to Andrews, Texas where he began his job with Skelly Oil Company. They were married 56 years when Clyde passed. To this union, they were blessed with three children, Carol, Janette and Geoffrey. They lived in Corpus Christi, Bay City, and Kerrville, but the longest in Beeville, TX. \r\n\r\nShe had many talents which included sewing, knitting, gardening, flower arranging, and the greatest of these was china painting. She was a true artist and she spent many hours painting and teaching her artistry to others. She enjoyed every moment she spent perfecting her art. She belonged to many clubs in her life and in her later years, was a faithful hospice service volunteer in Kerrville, arranging and delivering flowers. She loved music and the theater. \r\n\r\nIn her final months of life, she brought joy to all the residents and employees of Ridgecrest Health Care in Forney, TX, where she lived. They were a blessing to her as well. She was the precious Nana that her grandchildren adored. They were always happy to spend time with her and enjoyed her famous chocolate chip cookies and tea parties. They loved to speak in her British accent just to tease her. She will be forever loved, remembered and missed by her family. She was truly a remarkable woman and lived a full and beautiful life.\r\n\r\nShe is preceded in death by her mother and father, her brothers Geoffrey Buck, John Buck, and sisters Eileen Chandler, Daphne Barmes, all of Great Britain. \r\n\r\nShe is survived by her children, Carol Carlson of San Antonio, TX, Janette (Larry) Duncan of Forney, TX, and Geoffrey (Bunny) Kensinger of College Station, TX. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jennifer Lasiter of Van Nuys, California, Amberly (Will) Ward of Georgetown, TX and Troy (Tirah) Kensinger of Manhattan, New York.\r\n\r\nMemorial services will be held at 3 PM, Saturday, June 22, 2019 at Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church in Ingram, TX.
