Doris Elaine Chambers Doyle went to be with the Lord Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at the age of 93. \r\n \r\nElaine was born on September 4, 1925 in Dallas, TX to Bryan Jasper Chambers and Bertha Winton Chambers. She spent her childhood in Fort Worth with her parents and sister attending school there and graduating from Polytechnic High School in 1941 and Texas Wesleyan College (now University) in 1945. She taught high school math for 3 years in Paducah, TX and Corpus Christi, TX. She met Charles Edgar (Charlie) Doyle at First Methodist Church in Corpus Christi and was married to him January 23, 1947. They raised their only child, Charles Edgar (Eddie) Doyle Jr., in Corpus Christi. She worked as a proof reader at the Corpus Christi Caller-Times for over 15 years. In 1966 they moved to San Antonio where she was employed at Kelly Air Force Base as a mathematical statistician. They moved to Kerrville in 1972 and she commuted to San Antonio until her retirement in March 1986, less than 2 months after the death of her beloved husband Charlie. She was involved in several organizations, but her love was First United Methodist Church and various associated groups including Prayer Warriors, 21st Century SS Class, her Emmaus Reunion group, United Methodist Women, and Threads of Love (making things for premature babies). She was involved for more than 20 years with Kairos Prison Ministry. She was a member of Heart O' the Hills Lions Club.\r\n\r\nShe was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and her sister, Mary Logan. \r\n\r\nShe is survived by her son, Eddie and wife Mary; grandchildren, Chuck Doyle and wife Chris, Benjamin Doyle, Melissa Bradford, Regina Hamblin and husband Stuart; 12 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren. \r\n\r\nVisitation will be held 4:00 to 6:00pm., Thursday January 24, 2019 at Grimes Funeral Chapels.\r\n \r\nServices will be held at 2:00pm, January 25, 2019 at First United Methodist Church with Pastors David Payne, Donna Magee and Kevin Portwood officiating. Reception to follow after service. Interment will follow for family only at Turtle Creek Cemetery.\r\n\r\nPallbearers will be John H. Creacy, Lonnie Brandon, William Rushing, Dan Ellis, Jody Crenwelge and David Blankenship.\r\n\r\nMemorial remembrances may be made to First United Methodist Church of Kerrville, Turtle Creek Volunteer Fire Dept, Inc., or the charity of one's choice.
