Dora Mae Evans Smith, born December 29, 1930, passed at age 93 on April 25, 2024, at the Bandera Nursing and Rehab Home. Dora was born in Medina, Texas to Eddy Wesley Evans and Bertie Frances Light. She graduated from Medina High School in 1948. As a child, Dora played guitar and loved reading. In 1949 she married Airman James Brown Smith, and they had the privilege of living all over the United States. During this time, she worked over twenty years as a secretary for the Federal government. As an adult, she enjoyed crafting, making candy, and decorating bridal cakes, owning a bakery for several years. Dora was also an avid member of the Baptist Church.
Dora is survived by her four daughters, Iris Day, Gwen Scales, Donna Smith, and Denise Murray, 9 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
The graveside service will take place on May 4 at 11 AM at Adam’s Cemetery in Tuff, Texas.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
