Dona Jeanne Rue was born on June 20, 1928 in Kearney Nebraska and passed away on Thursday, March 24, 2016 in Kerrville, Texas. She graduated from Worthington High School in Worthington, Ohio in 1946 and received an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education from Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri. \r\n \r\nShe leaves behind her beloved husband Melvin Rue, their three children and spouses Mindy and Scott Mashburn, Lori and Punjab Sekhon, Bob and Alicia Rue, their six grandchildren Emily, Meghan, Madelyn, and Elizabeth Rue, and Seth and Anna Sekhon, her brother and wife Doug and Jean Diercks and numerous nieces and nephews.\r\n \r\nDona and Mel met on a blind date in 1948, were engaged in 1949, and she married the love of her life on July 29, 1950 in Columbus, Ohio. They had 65 wonderful years together. They have lived in Kerrville 20 years where they enjoyed their retirement along with their many friends. \r\n \r\nShe was known for her beautiful voice and sang in choirs for 70 years. She shared her compassionate heart with others by spending her life volunteering-from caring for elderly "shut-ins", mentoring new mothers, Meals on Wheels, and The Point Theater to name a few.\r\n \r\nHer memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 2nd at 11a.m. at First United Methodist Church, Kerrville. \r\n \r\nIn lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Peterson Hospice. \r\n
