Dick Hicks

Dick W. Hicks, Jr., 68, of Bandera passed away on July 12, 2017 at the HIX Ranch in Bandera. He was born in Bandera to Carmen and D.W. ("Speedy") Hicks on August 27, 1948. \r\n\r\nHe graduated from Bandera High School in 1966 and from Texas A&M University in 1970. After a career in the financial industry, he worked with his dad in real estate. Later he was employed by the Texas Racing Commission as a state auditor. In 2011, he retired to the family home to continue the ranching operations. He was a member of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo and later a life member of the San Antonio Livestock Exposition. \r\n\r\nHe loved all things "Aggie" and cherished his time at A&M. During his life, he realized the value of the "Aggie Bond," but especially toward the end of his life. Dickie always had a knack for making friends and these friends, both old and new, surrounded him with love and support. Whether living it up in Corpus Christi or at Aggie Reunions, or helping repair a tractor or trailer, his buddies were his support and his family.\r\n\r\nDickie is preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Jeanine Hicks. He is survived by his brother, David Hicks and wife, Robin, and his sister, Charmen Catlin and husband, Larry, and nieces Amanda Catlin, Laurel Blue, Cathleen Clough, Macy Hicks, Carly Hicks, three great nephews, one great niece, and his beloved dogs, Chico and Pocket.\r\n\r\nA memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm on Friday, July 14th at Grimes Funeral Chapel.\r\n\r\nHonorary pallbearers are Jim Harris, Mike Pointer, Pokey Rehmet, Charlie Blaylock, Jim Gentry, Bob Meador, Bill Wiseman, Norman Ransleben, Jack Moseley, Brian Black, and Kellam Colquitt.\r\n\r\nMemorials may be given to Animal Welfare Society of Bandera County at P.O.
