Deanna Joy (Ward) Hayashikawa, of Ingram, TX, formally of Rice Lake, WI, passed away Monday, December 12, 2016 at St. Luke's Baylor Hospital in Houston, TX. She was 54 years old.\r\n \r\nDeanna lost her hard-fought battle due to complications of Ewings Sarcoma from when she was seven years old, which was 48 years ago. She was a miracle child to be the first one to survive this terrible childhood cancer. But she, also, survived it a second time two years later in her leg. She has had many bumps in the road over the years but has always bounced back with her strong will to live, her laughter, compassion and a positive attitude. Several years ago, she found that she had severe ciliac disease, which complicated her breathing problems. She developed respiratory infections many years ago, which continued and was thought to be asthma.\r\n \r\nShe was born September 28, 1962 in Rice Lake, WI to Ronald Ward and Sandra (Setchell) Ward. She is survived by her husband, Calvin, daughter Jessi of Ingram, TX, son Jacob of San Marcos, TX, mother Sandra Boettcher of Ingram, TX, siblings, Brian Ward of Ingram, TX, Tammy Jo (Boettcher) of Fredericksburg, TX and Jesse Boettcher of Hayward, WI and many friends and relatives.\r\n \r\nDeanna Joy had a full life. She was not one to just sit around. She lived in Kerrville, TX in the "80's" and worked for H & F trophy shop as an engraver. She went to Hawaii to visit her brother, Brian, who was in the Navy and there she met her wonderful and very caring husband, Calvin. Deanna graduated from the U of Hawaii as a nurse clinician. Jessi was adopted in Hawaii. They moved to Rice Lake, WI. Then they adopted Jacob. She was an amazing wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandma, aunt, niece and cousin. She always had a smile and was outgoing and had made lots of friends. She was a great cook, homemaker and decorator. She was a very devoted mother to her children. She gave them good values, encouraged them to get a good education and to work hard. Her pride and joy was her grandson, Jason, who turned two on the day she passed away.\r\n \r\nShe worked as a phlebotomist at the clinic in Rice Lake, WI. She had a talent to make her own lye soap to perfection with many different scents, which she sold from home or farmer's markets. They moved to rural Ingram, TX in 2006, where her husband, Calvin, continued Cycle Tech, a small engine repair, from HI. and WI. Deanna helped her husband with the business. She worked at the Crisis Center, at 3-H boys ranch as office manager and at Sid Peterson Hospital. She loved shopping for antiques with her mom.\r\n \r\nShe was preceded in death by her father, Ronald Ward, maternal grandparents, Vernon and Dorothy Setchell, fraternal grandparents, Rodney and Mildred Ward. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her.\r\n \r\nThere will be a private memorial service, Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at 3pm to 4pm followed by a "Celebration of Life" from 4:30pm to 6:30pm at the Hill Country Veterans Center at 411 Meadowview Lane. Turn off of Hwy 27/ Broadway St. on the left at Roberts Auto, then go a few blocks and it's on the right.\r\n \r\nThe family wants to thank Dr. Grocki, Dr. Oi, Dr. Mohar and Dr. Venas of Kerrville, who were always there when she needed them, also, the top thoracic surgeon, Dr. Sugarbaker, and his great team and all of the other very caring and compassionate doctors and nurses at St. Luke's Baylor Hospital in Houston, TX who worked so hard to save her life.\r\n
