Dale Webb, born February 23, 1924 in Waco, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at his home on the Johnson Creek near Ingram, Texas, a stone's throw away from where he was baptized as a young boy in the Guadalupe River. Dale was the youngest of four siblings and spent most of his youth in Galveston with his widowed mother, Ada Dowdy Webb, brother Joe and two sisters Ada Ray and Mary Jane. He graduated from Milby High School in Houston, Texas but also attended Galveston Ball High School.\r\n \r\nFollowing the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, Dale joined the U.S. Marine Corps (Third Division) and served his country in the South Pacific Theater-primarily at Guadalcanal, Guam, and Iwo Jima as a sharpshooter and a mortar operator.\r\n\r\nFollowing World War II, Dale attended Baylor University where he met his future wife, Bettie Jean Knight. They were married December 22, 1949 in Houston, Texas. Dale entered Baylor Law School but finished his law degree at South Texas Law School in Houston. He worked in the insurance industry, specializing in construction contractor's commercial lines of insurance and surety bonds.\r\n \r\nRetiring in 1987, he and wife Bettie moved from Houston to his beloved Ingram and built a retirement home on the Johnson Creek near the confluence of the Guadalupe River where he could enjoy his passion of watching wildlife. The couple spent many exciting years traveling across North America with the WBCCI Airstream Travel club. Dale was also a fanatic fan of his and Bettie's Baylor Bears and made a point to watch any sporting event being broadcast.\r\n \r\nDale was a Deacon Emeritus at Trinity Baptist Church where he and Bettie were members of the Jubilee Sunday School class.\r\n \r\nHe is predeceased by his father Joe, mother and brother and sisters.\r\n \r\nDale is survived by his wife of 67 years, Bettie Jean; daughter, Belinda Burkett and her husband, Stephen L. Burkett of Corpus Christi, Texas; son Rex N. Webb and wife, Michele of Austin, Texas; grandsons Nathan and wife Young Burkett, Aaron Burkett, Adam Burkett and wife Autumn, Auscencio Pereida, Evan and wife Shaylee Webb, Brandon and wife Lydia Webb; and granddaughter Emily and husband Clayton Shillings. Dale has also been blessed with six great grandchildren with another one on the way!\r\n \r\nVisitation will be held 5-7 PM, Friday, January 27, 2017 at Grimes Funeral Chapels.\r\n \r\nA Celebration of Life service will be held 1 PM, Saturday, January 28, 2017 at Trinity Baptist Church.\r\n \r\nIn lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity Baptist Church Forward by Faith (www.tbck.org) or to the Hill Country Youth Ranch (www.youth-ranch.org).\r\n
