Coy Lavern Word

Coy went to her heavenly home to be reunited with her husband Jimmie, on April 30, 2024, in Kerrville, TX, she was 85 years old.

She was born in Pipe Creek, TX to Conley & Woodie Richards on my May 5, 1938. She married Jimmie Word on July 11, 1957, in Bandera, TX. She was a housewife, mother, and surrogate mom to so many children she took care of during her daycare time. She was baptized into Pearl Street Church of Christ in 1964. Coy is a long-time member of the Bandera Church, of Christ.

Coy is preceded in death by her husband Jimmie Word, her parents and 15 siblings.

Survived by her children Lana and Henry Matula, Fredericksburg, TX; Wade and Jody Word, Denton, TX; Terry and Alice Word in Medina, TX; Survived by her brothers Woody Richards, Weir, TX; Conley Richards, Jennings, LA. Grandchildren Kelsey and Reid Jones, Bandera, TX, Brynne and Drayton Harrison, San Angelo, TX; Bethany and Ben Klein, Holland, TX; Jacob and Paula Word, Simpsonville, SC; Rhett and Kymberly Word, Medina, TX; Aaron and Annie Word, Houston, TX; Caleb Word, Richardson, TX; Hanna Dianne Word, College Station, TX; and 9 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be on Monday-May 6, 2024, at 10AM the Service will be at 1:00PM on the same day at Grimes Funeral Home, Grave Site at Bandera, TX.
