Clark Dennis Klein Sr., 80, of Kerrville, passed away on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at a local care facility. He was born in Kerrville to Walter (Shot) and Minnie Leyendecker Klein on January 19, 1938. He married Karen Herzog on March 3, 1962 in Kerrville, Texas. \r\n \r\nHe went to school at Notre Dame Catholic School and graduated from Tivy High School in 1956. After high school graduation he joined the Army, serving in Germany for 3 years. He joined the Texas National Guard and served 23 years attaining the rank of Command Sergeant Major. \r\n \r\nHe worked for the US Postal Service as a letter carrier in San Antonio and Austin, and returned to Kerrville and retired as Superintendent of Postal Operations. He loved cars and following retirement, he was a driver for the local car dealers. He also loved to travel from family trips every summer, to RVing, to European trips especially Germany and Ireland. \r\n \r\nHe was very proud of his military service and was a dedicated member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a charter member of the Father Kemper Knights of Columbus Council and served as Grand Knight, District Deputy, and Faithful Navigator of the 4th degree. He was a long time member of Notre Dame Catholic Church. He volunteered at the Notre Dame Rectory and also was a communion minister to the sick and homebound. He served on the Ingram School Board and was an alumni of the Kerrville Citizens Police Academy. \r\n \r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Yolanda Klein; sister, Barbara Cherry; father-in-law, Ozzie Herzog; mother-in-law, Catherine Whelan Herzog; and many beloved aunts and uncles.\r\n \r\nHe is survived by his wife of 55 years, Karen; children, Clark Klein, Jr. (Chuck) and wife Kristie of North Carolina, Kevin Klein and wife Gabriela of Round Rock, and Christine Pankratz of Kerrville; sister, Marilyn Michel and brother-in-law Roland Michel; grandchildren, Joseph Klein and wife Anna of Round Rock, Gabe Klein of Round Rock, Samuel Pankratz and Jacob Pankratz both of Kerrville; great-grandson, Cole Klein of Round Rock; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.\r\n \r\nThe family wishes to thank the staff at Alamo Hospice, especially Tina Gross, the staff at Alpine Terrace, and caregiver JoAnn Alcorta. \r\n \r\nPallbearers will be members of the Knights of Columbus. \r\n \r\nThere will be a rosary and visitation at 6:00 p.m., Friday, February 23, 2018 at Grimes Funeral Chapels in Kerrville. \r\n \r\nFuneral services will be held 9:30 a.m., Saturday, February 24, 2018 at Notre Dame Catholic Church, Kerrville.
