Claire Sweet

Claire Elizabeth Wentworth Sweet passed away at home in Comfort, Texas on Thursday, January 21st, 2016. Born in Pensacola, Florida on March 11, 1926, to Floy and Henry Wentworth, Claire was a lively, cheerful child whose compassion and joy touched everyone around her. Eventually, the Wentworths' moved to Corpus Christi, Texas where Claire attended Del Mar College fine-tuning her extraordinary talent. Claire met Lawrence Allen Sweet there. The two married on January 1, 1948. \r\n \r\nClaire is preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, her parents, two sisters and brothers-in-laws: Jeanne and Ralph Nelson, and Dannie and A.C. Kelly. \r\n \r\nClaire is survived by her brother, Martin Wentworth, her three children: Tina Sweet, who served as her primary caregiver since 2010, her beloved son, Lawrence Henry Sweet who lives adjacent to her home and always kept his mother smiling, and daughter, Beverly Scheidt and husband, Richard, of Hondo, Texas. Also surviving Claire are 5 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.\r\n \r\nVisitation will be held for friends and family on Tuesday, February 2, 2016 from 5-7 pm at Grimes Funeral Chapels located at 728 Jefferson Street in Kerrville, Texas. Graveside services will follow on Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at 1pm, at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Road, in San Antonio, Texas, where Claire will lie in rest with her husband, Lawrence.
