Gilmer was an Air Force Veteran and served his country in the Korean War Era and was a proud American, but more important in his life was the call at the age of twenty-one to be an Apostolic Minister of the gospel of Jesus Christ. He was called to evangelize early on in his ministry, but quickly was called to pastor the Apostolic Tabernacle in Fort Stockton, Texas in 1963. He and his wife Shirley faithfully served the Lord together until he retired at the age of seventy. Afterwards, he continued to preach and teach God's glorious Word, because he would say, "There is no discharge in the Lord's Army." He will be remembered as a wonderful Man of God, Father, Papaw, faithful friend and brother to all of us that his life had touched. In conclusion, "Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day; and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing." 2 Timothy 4:8\r\n \r\nVisitation will be at the Kerrville Apostolic Church on Friday, December 8, 2017 between the hours of 5 to 8 p.m. The memorial service will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, December 9, 2017 at the Kerrville Apostolic Church with the burial following at the Garden of Memories Cemetery.\r\n
