Chester Dale Durham, age 92 of Kerrville, Texas, died March 27, 2019, at a local care center in Kerrville. He was born June 14, 1926 in Chickasha, Oklahoma to Chester A. Durham and Ada (Harrel) Durham. On September 25, 1944, he married Marjorie Lee (McClung) in Santa Ana, California.\r\n\r\nDale served in the U.S. Navy in World War II from 1944 to 1946. Following his return from the war, Dale surrendered to the ministry. This was a life-long calling. Dale completed a Bachelor of Music degree at East Texas Baptist College and then a Master of Religious Education degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Dale served as Music and Education Director in many churches in Texas and California for over 50 years. He then served 20 plus years in pastoral care and visitation. Every August for almost 20 years, Dale was a fixture of the Hill Country Cowboy Camp Meeting where he faithfully led the music. Dale was also involved in his local Rotary Club for 35 plus years and served as President of the Brownfield Chapter in 1968.\r\n\r\nSurvivors include: daughters, Judy Williams of Kerrville, Denise Glenn and husband David of Houston, Deidra Gorton and husband William of Illinois, Carrie Overby and husband Guy of Kerrville; grandchildren, Danielle Young, Jamie Williams, Stephanie Ottosen, Adrienne Williams, Brittany Senseman, Lindsey Williams, Kristen Flank, Jacqueline Brummett, Connor Overby and Cameron Conklin; 16 great-grandchildren; and 9 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marjorie; sister, Frances Edwards; and brother, Donald Durham.\r\n\r\nVisitation will be held from 4:00 to 5:30 pm Sunday, March 31, 2019, at Grimes Funeral Chapels with a hymn Sing-a-long from 5:00 to 5:30 pm. A Memorial Service will be celebrated Monday, April 1 at 1:00 pm at Trinity Baptist Church, Kerrville, Texas. There will be a private burial at Garden of Memories Cemetery.\r\n\r\nIn lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Kardo International Ministries or Hill Country Cowboy Camp Meeting.\r\n\r\nSpecial thanks to Peterson Hospice organization for taking care of Dale and family during recent days.\r\n
