Charline Sides Campbell, 88, of Kerrville, passed away on July 2, 2016 in a local hospital. She was born in Maydelle, TX to Charlie Ernest Sides and Lottie Elena Batten Sides on January 24, 1928. She married Shirley Lorenzo Purdum on April 2, 1949, in Houston, Texas. Following his death in 1966, she married Fred Wayne Campbell on September 5, 1970, in Houston, Texas. \r\n \r\nCharline was baptized in the river at Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church when she was 12. She graduated from Jeff Davis High School in Houston in 1945. She worked as an executive secretary for Armco Steel Corporation on and off for 35 years until she and Fred moved to Kerrville in 1972. \r\n \r\nCharline was a member of First Baptist Church Kerrville from 1978 until her passing. She was a member and held several class offices in the Deborah Sunday School Class there. Charline was a graduate of Bible Study Fellowship, beginning her study in 1995. She volunteered regularly in the BSF children's program for many years.\r\n \r\nIn 2013 Charline moved to Brookdale Plaza Retirement Living Center where the staff and her new friends made her feel very special.\r\n \r\nCharline was preceded in death by both Shirley Purdum and Fred Campbell, both of her parents and 1 sister Ernestine Sides Durrett. \r\n \r\nCharline is survived by 2 daughters: Gael Purdum Dahse and Dr. Byron Dahse of Kerrville, and Roslyn Purdum Houghton and Zeke Houghton also of Kerrville; 1 sister Lillian Sides Durrett of Jacksonville; 4 grandchildren: Jeff and Sharon Dahse of Ft Worth, Chris and Lacey Dahse of Kerrville, Emily and Chris Huber of Kerrville, and Nicholas Houghton of Houston; and 4 great grandchildren: Hannah, Caleb, Noah and Piper.\r\n \r\nA memorial service will be held at 10:30 am Friday, July 8, 2016, at City West Church in Ingram, TX, with Rev. James Ervin of Coggin Avenue Baptist Church in Brownwood, TX and Pastor Chris Dahse of City West Church, officiating. Burial will be the following day at 10:30 am at Woodlawn Cemetery in Houston, TX.\r\n \r\nThe family of Charline Campbell wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Radona Curtis for being her daily companion, Dr. Anand Mehendale, the doctors, nurses and attendants on 3West at PRMC, and Peterson Hospice Care.\r\n \r\n\r\n\r\n
