Charlie Arthur Habermacher, 96, passed away Tuesday, March 20, 2018 in a Bandera care center. He was born August 11, 1921 in Houston, Texas to Charles S. and Vivian Wieland Habermacher. Charlie was part of the Greatest Generation and served his country honorably in the Navy during WW II.\r\n\r\nHe married Camille Fondren on June 25, 1970 in Missouri City, Texas. They have been residents of Utopia for 23 years. He loved ranching in the Hill Country.\r\n\r\nCharlie was preceded in death by his parents and a son, David Springer. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Camille; daughters, Carrie Hall and Carol King; sons, Charlie A. Habermacher, Jr. and Mike Springer; also surviving are 8 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.\r\n\r\nA visitation will be held at Grimes Funeral Chapels of Bandera on Friday, March 23, 2018 from 6 PM to 9 PM. Burial will be private.\r\n\r\nIn lieu of flowers, those who desire may make a memorial gift to the charity of choice in Charlie's honor.
