Charles Antoine Cooper, 97, of Medina, Tx., returned to the Lord on November 12, 2017 in Bandera, Tx. He was born in San Marcos, TX., to Leslie A. Cooper and Margaret Hanson on September 11, 1920. He married Laverta Green on May 15, 1945 in Ashville, North Carolina. \r\nHe attended school in San Marcos. He graduated from SWTSTC with a Bachelor of Arts and Oklahoma A&M with a Master of Science. He was Principle of Schools in Utopia, TX., Martindale, Tx. He taught school for 25 years in the NEISD in San Antonio, TX. He was known as a math expert and creating games to teach mathmatics. He retired to a life of selling antiques out of his home in San Antonio.\r\nHe joined the U. S. Army in 1941 and fought as a Seargent in the Army Infantry in North Africa and Italy. He fought at the landing of Salerno. He received the Bronze Star among other medals.\r\nCharles is preceded in death by his parents; wife,Laverta Green Cooper; daughter, Evelyn A. Cooper; son, Leslie W. Cooper.\r\nCharles is survived by his daughter, Margaret Wintersole; son, Charles H. Cooper; granchildren and numerous great and great great grandchildren, and his loving dogs Bows and Minnie Cooper.\r\nA Visitation will be Friday, November 17, 2017, 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Grimes Funeral Chapels of Bandera.\r\nA Funeral will be Saturday, November 18, 2017, 11:00 AM at Medina First United Methodist Church with Pastor Bill Stegmueller officiating. To be followed by a meal gathering. Burial will be at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio at 10:15 AM, Tuesday, November 21st.\r\nPallbearers will be Frank Zapata, Jim Jones, Charlie Cooper, Henry Neal, David Neal and Gary Cooper.\r\nThe family of Charles A.
