Catherine Long

Catherine (Cathy) B. Long, 60, of Kerrville, Texas, passed away on November 1, 2017, after a courageous battle with cancer. Cathy was born in Dallas, Texas to James and Jane Brown on April 16, 1957. She married Flynn V. Long III on June 7, 1980, in Dallas, Texas.\r\n \r\nCathy graduated from Stephen F. Austin and received her masters degree in Speech-language pathology from the University of Texas at Dallas. She worked as a speech pathologist for the VA Hospital in Kerrville, Texas and later for nursing homes in the Kerrville, Fredericksburg and Boerne areas. She was actively involved in the First Presbyterian Church in Kerrville and was an ordained elder. She served as a deacon and was very involved in the church's youth programs. Cathy was also actively involved in the Scouting programs with her children.\r\n \r\nCathy was preceded in death by her brother, David Brown and cousin, Jeanie Kneeland. \r\n \r\nCathy is survived by her husband, Flynn V. Long III; daughter, Katie Long Gramatikakis and husband, Georgios; grandchildren Tina and Yana; son, David Long; parents, James and Jane Brown; sister, Suzy Brown; Aunt Catherine Kneeland; cousins, Chuck Kneeland, Nancy Kneeland Woodall and Bill Kneeland.\r\n \r\nMemorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 11 at First Presbyterian Church, 800 Jefferson St., Kerrville, Texas. \r\n \r\nIn lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 800 Jefferson St., Kerrville, Texas 78028 or the American Cancer Society.\r\n \r\nThe family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Dr. Mark C.
