Carrol "Sleepy" Gene Renfroe passed from this life on April 06, 2024 in Bandera, TX. Sleepy was born on March 09, 1952 to James and Carmen Renfroe.
Sleepy graduated from L.D. Beil High School in Hurst, Tx. He rode bulls for the rodeo team. His passion was race horses. Sleepy started his Jockey Career at Ross Downs in Collyville, Tx. He would ride after school and on the weekends.
Sleepy was an Army Veteran, stationed at Fort Bliss in El Paso. He would jockey at Sunland Downs on weekends. After the Army, he went to Ruidoso Downs in New Mexico. Not only did he have a passion for Jockey, that was the Life he Loved.
Although Sleepy has many friends, He was actually a Loner!
He has always loved the City of Bandera. So later in life, he moved there and opened "Sleepy's Saloon." After making the decision to close the doors, he became an avid customer at The "Wild Horse" Saloon where he met and made many dear friends.
Sleepy lived in Bandera, Tx until his death.
He loved his Mother dearly . Shortly after her death, Sleepy started battling depression. She was "the most" important person in Sleepy's life.
He is preceded in death by Brothers, Donnie Renfro, Tommy Renfroe, Michael Renfroe, Bruce Renfroe. Sisters, Dollie (Don) Guynes, Peggy Guynes, Brenda Murrell and his twin siblings who passed at birth.
He is survived by Brother Larry (Cyndi) Renfro, Sister Wanda Cunningham, Special Sister Karen Sue Montville, and Sister in Law Debra Renfro
A Special Thanks to Sleepy's dear friends, Gene and Tonya Ballard for the Love, Care, and Compassion you not only showed him while he was alive, but still showing even though he is gone. We will miss you dearly Sleepy.
