Carrol (Moores) Mansell, 70, died unexpectedly on Saturday, February 27, 2016 surrounded by her daughter Kimberly (Mansell) Laine. Carrol was born July 19,1945 in Bangor, Maine to Myrtle Moores. Shortly after Carrol's birth she lost her mother to an inoperable brain tumor, at which Carrol and her older sister, Sandra "Sandy" went to live with their grandmother, Caroline Moores. When her grandmother passed away in 1954 they both went to live with their aunt and uncle, Ralph and Arline Downes, and their two children. Ralph and Arline raised Carrol and her sister as if they were their own.\r\n\r\nCarrol grew up in Bangor, Maine where she graduated from Bangor High School in 1963. Carrol went on to attend Husson College where she met her husband Robert "Bob" Mansell. Carroll and Bob married on October 23, 1965. The following year they welcomed a beautiful daughter, Kimberly. Over the years Carrol and her family lived in Bridgport, CT as well as Burrlington, Vt, where in 1973 they welcomed their second daughter, Tammi. Shortly after Tammi's birth they moved to Lebanon, NH, where they lived for 26 years. In 1999 Carrol moved to Fort Myers, FL where she enjoyed spending time with her sister Mary. Carrol enjoyed the beach in Fort Myers as well as Sanibel Island. In 2004 Carrol moved back to Lebanon and lived with her daughter Tammi, until 2006 when she moved to Texas to live with her daughter Kim.\r\n\r\nCarrol worked from 1976-1986 as a secretary for the psychiatry department at Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital. In 1986 she joined Degnan/Hough & Company in Lebanon until she retired in 1998. Carrol was a dedicated member of the Lebanon Emblem Club #358 for many years while living in Lebanon, as well as an avid supporter of the Lebanon Elks #2099. She was a past president, and had received the Sister of the year award as well as the Marion Hawes award. She enjoyed spending time with her friends and fellow Emblem members working countless hours, at many functions held at the lodge. She enjoyed working the many wedding receptions and dinner/dances, as well as participating as Santa's helper at the ELKS Children's Christmas parties. She would attend Friday night dinners, where she participated in karaoke singing "Elvira", but really enjoyed attending the many state conventions with her fellow emblem friends, as well as national ELK conventions with her husband Bob, while he was Exalted Ruler of the lodge.\r\n\r\nCarrol was an avid crafter. She would spend many hours after work and on weekends crocheting and knitting countless baby blankets, hats, mittens and clothing, for those who were expecting. She also enjoyed working on plastic canvas projects as well as spending time at craft shows.\r\n\r\nCarrol's true passion was her family and friends. She greatly enjoyed spending time with her daughters and four grandchildren. She enjoyed watching her oldest grandson play soccer and baseball over the years, as well as watch her three younger grandchildren participate in dance recitals and tball games. She also enjoyed going to Maine and Connecticut to visit her parents, In laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins. She never left Bangor, Maine without grabbing a sandwich at the Coffee Pot Sandwich Shop, it was her favorite place.\r\n\r\nCarrol was pre deceased by her mother Myrtle, as well as her father Ralph Downes, her mother Arline (Moores) Downes, her brother Ralph Downes Jr, and her husband Robert "Bob" Mansell. Carrol leaves behind her daughter Kimberly "Kim" (Mansell) Laine and husband Marc of Pipe Creek, Texas, daughter Tammi (Mansell) Chaffee and husband Shaine of Post Mills, VT, her sister Sandra (Moores) Leonard and partner Shawn, of Southport,ME, sister Mary (Downes) Hardy and husband Ray, of Fort Myers, FL, brother In Law Ralph Mansell and wife Debra of Storrs, CT and sister In Law Beverly (Cole) Mansell of Bangor, ME as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She also leaves behind her four precious grandchildren that brought her tremendous joy, Shaine "Shainey" Chaffee Jr of Post Mills, VT as well as Ryleigh, Madelynn "Mattie" and Robert "Bobby" Laine of Pipe Creek, TX.\r\n\r\nA celebration of life will be held on March 19, 2016 at 11 am, at The Bandera United Methodist Church. A celebration of life in New Hampshire will be held on June 18, 2016 at the Lebanon Elks Lodge #2099, with private burial to follow.
