Carol Wright Nighswonger (Maier), 73, of Bandera, passed away on August 29, 2018 in San Antonio. She was born in San Antonio, Texas to Smith C. and Ruby Mae Wright on August 28, 1945. She Married Clyde V. Nighswonger on November 14, 1998 in Alva, Oklahoma.\r\n\r\nShe graduated from Bandera High School and went on to earn her Bachelors in Education at Angelo State Baptist in San Angelo Texas. Carolyn was the granddaughter of County Judge Granville Wright and a 4th generation Bandera resident. She dedicated many years to teaching elementary students with Bandera Independent School District and the Medina Independent School District. \r\n\r\nCarolyn is preceded in death by her parents;Smith and Ruby Wright; brother, Smith Eugene Wright.\r\n\r\nShe is survived by her husband of 19 years Clyde V. Nighswonger; daughters, Kelly Ellis and husband Dean of Bandera, Paula Swinney and husband Tim of Bandera; step daughters, Clydene Lyons of Enid, OK, Rhonda Nighswonger of Alva, OK, Vicki Nighswonger of Duncan, OK; son Luke Maier and wife Sara of Cuero, Texas; sisters, Gail Miller and husband, Greg of Iowa Park, TX, Linda Leach and husband Herald of New Albany, IN; grandchildren, Ryan, Cooper and Wyatt Ellis, Rebecca Maier, Cody and Caleb Swinney, Emma and Ethan Lyons, Aaron Nighswonger, Olivia and Alec Elliot; great grandchildren, Trenton and Brooklynn Ellis.\r\n\r\nA Memorial will be held Monday, September 3, 2018 at 10:00 AM at the First Baptist Church of Bandera with Pastor Dick Sisk officiating.\r\n\r\nMemorials may be given to Medina Community Library or bring a book to her service to be donated.
