Carolina Menchaca Gonzales, 87 of Kerrville, TX, passed away on Saturday, May 27, 2017 in Harper, TX. She was born in Waring, TX to Christopher Menchaca and Florinda Ybarra Menchaca Leti on May 11, 1930. She married Refugio Rocha Gonzales on April 25, 1948 in Fredericksburg, TX.\r\n \r\nShe went to school in Comfort, TX. She helped her mother and step-father, Francisco Leti, in their restaurant as a young girl. She then got married and traveled with her husband as he was a horse jockey. They finally settled in Tahoka, TX and raised their eleven children. She also worked along with her husband on farms where they planted cotton and did other types of farm work. They later came back to Kerrville. She worked in housekeeping at the Inn of the Hills. She finished raising her three younger children in Kerrville and put them through school. She also babysat for many young couples and raised their children in and around Kerrville. She loved all her children and enjoyed her family time. She loved to go fishing, garage sales and thrift store shopping. As her time got near, she moved to Harper and lived on her daughter and son-in-law's ranch for five months. She enjoyed watching all the animals and her daughter feed every one. She loved her little companion, Max, her Chiweenie. He remained faithful until the very end. \r\n \r\nShe was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Refugio R. Gonzales; son, Noel Gonzales; and six brothers and sisters.\r\n \r\nShe is survived by ten children, Tommy Gonzales (Janis) of Bandera, Christine Casillas (Roberto) of Center Point, Sally Chavarria (Robert) of Lubbock, Rocky Gonzales (Lucy) of Lubbock, Mike Gonzales (Isabel) of Bandera, Adam Gonzales of Kerrville, Joel Gonzales (Julie) of Kerrville, Flora Ayala (Bobby) of Harper, Arthur Gonzales (Eugenia) of Austin and Renee Collier (Steve) of Converse; 36 grandchildren; 76 great-grandchildren; many great-great-grandchildren; sister, Ofelia Garcia; one brother-in-law; and one sister-in-law.\r\n \r\nVisitation will be held from 5-7 PM, Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at Grimes Funeral Chapels.\r\n \r\nServices will be held at 2 PM, Thursday, June 1, 2017 at Trinity Baptist Church officiated by Rev. John Wheat. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery. \r\n \r\nPallbearers will be Adam Gonzales, Rocky Gonzales, Bobby Ayala, Roberto Casillas, Steve Collier and Junior Morales. All of her grandchildren will be honorary pallbearers. \r\n \r\nSpecial thanks to Peterson Hospice, Standard Home Health, Girling Home Health, Tasha Ayala, Renee Collier and Hilltop Village Nursing Home.\r\n
