Carol Pierce

January 6, 1942 — February 15, 2019

Ramona Carol Autry Pierce ("Carol") passed away on Friday, February 15 , 2019. \r\n\r\nAfter graduating from the University of Oklahoma with a degree in English, Carol married Albert Pierce, of Midland, TX in 1964. Albert joined the Army, and both he and Carol traveled to and lived in Africa, where they served for 3 years. Upon return to the United States in 1971, they moved to Kerrville. Two children and a houseful of pets followed, along with a lifetime of active involvement in the community.\r\n\r\nAt the time of her death, Carol was a substitute teacher for the Kerrville Independent School District. Previously, she worked in the Tivy High School Library. In addition to teaching, Mrs. Pierce was a long time supporter of/active member of the Riverside Nature Center, Girl Scouts, Youth Soccer, and the Earth Day Celebrations. She was also a member of the Choctaw Tribe in Oklahoma.\r\n\r\nCarol loved art, food, books, and travel, and enjoyed visiting her friends all over the country. Carol was a memorable part of annual, extended family trips with her children and their friends, a spirited college football spectator, and a treasured friend. Carol loved conversation, and ideas, and never tired of trying new things.\r\n\r\nCarol is survived by husband, Albert (Kerrville, TX), her children, Genevieve Kyle (Austin, TX) and Travis Pierce (Kerrville, TX), sister, Kay Autry Macgruder (Weathrford, TX) and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents, Tams and Vema Autry of Purcell, OK. \r\n\r\nA memorial will be planned for later in the year, but in the meantime, memorial donations can be made in Carol's memory to the Riverside Nature Center or to the Xerces Society for Invertebrate Conservation. https://xerces.org/ or https://riversidenaturecenter.org/about-rnc/donate\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
