Carol Chamness, of Kerrville, peacefully went to be with our Lord on Monday, March 26, 2018, at the age of 90.\r\n\r\nCarol was born on Dec. 30, 1927, in Harlingen, Texas. She lived in Harlingen and Weslaco as a child. She moved to Fort Worth, where she married Gene Roberts in 1944. They had three daughters, and he later died in 1967.\r\n\r\nCarol was remarried to Wally Chamness, and they made their home together in the Hill Country. She became involved in Christian Women's Corps and was devoted to women's Bible study groups. Carol was well known for her decorative painting. She was a folk art teacher and published a book titled "First Fruits," in 2000, which showcased her artwork. She volunteered as a mentor at Starkey Elementary.\r\n\r\nCarol was preceded in death by her parents, Gene Jones and Helen Faucett; first husband, Gene Roberts; second husband, Wally Chamness; and son-in-law, Ron Hensell.\r\n\r\nShe is remembered by her daughters, Carol Hensell, Robyn Walton and her husband, Gene, and Christie Yañez; her grandchildren, Aaron Hensell, Lesley Demond and her husband, Henry, Stew Walton and his wife, Cameo, Michael Walton and his wife, Jessica, Ryan Stone, Sarah Stone and Angela Hohensee and her husband, Jamon; and her great-grandchildren, Austin, Jackson, Andrew, Aiden, Addison, Hannah, Haley and Asher.\r\n\r\nA memorial service in her honor will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 7, 2018, at Grimes Funeral Chapels.\r\n\r\nFamily is extremely grateful for the support and service of Hilltop Village Nursing Center, Hospice of Kerrville and Caring Senior Service of Kerrville.\r\n\r\nIn lieu of flowers, family asks for donations to be made to Hospice of Kerrville.\r\n
