Candace Cormier

December 10, 1954 — February 12, 2016

Candace Houser Cormier (also known as Candy Cormier) and her adopted son Jeremiah Rayne Cormier were freed from the constraints of this life, to join their Heavenly Father, on Friday, February 12, 2016. Candy was the youngest of the four children born to Thomas Milton Houser and Joyce Bading Houser on December 10, 1954. Candy's adult children, Misty Bull Ayala (John) and Nolan Thomas Bull, both of Kerrville, Texas, survived her, as well as stepson L.J. Cormier of Center Point, Texas. Eight grandchildren survived. Her adopted son, Jeremiah Rayne Cormier, was ten years of age at his death. Candy was married to Mark Cormier, who survived. Siblings Gayle Houser Goble (Jerry), of Ingleside, and twin brothers, Donald Arthur Houser (Maxie) and Ronald George Houser (Lynn), both of Sinton, Texas, also survived her, together with eleven nieces and nephews, and sixteen great nieces and great nephews, and one nephew who predeceased. \r\n \r\nCandy attended Del Mar College, Corpus Christi, Texas, and became a realtor, licensed in numerous states. Jeremiah was a student at Ingram Elementary School, where he excelled in academics. He was also recognized for his skills in basketball with West Kerr County Sports and wrestling.\r\n \r\nMuch to her credit, it is said of Candy that she lived a purpose-driven life, touching so many with her compassion and kindness. She served on the Board of Directors of Christian Women's Job Corps of Kerr County, passionate about its Christian message and its important service to women's needs. Candy served on the board of the business development group, Kerr County Connection, was a member of the Kerrville-Morning Rotary Club, and she worked behind the scenes so often to benefit those in need. A longtime real estate professional, Candy was an active realtor with Realty Executives, promoting and dedicated to the Kerrville community. \r\n\r\nBlessing her family and friends was routine for Candy, keeping her friends and family connected and communicating. Quickly offering that infectious smile, Candy's genuine care and concern for meeting others' needs was evident. Those who carry a little piece of Candy's spirit within themselves will more effectively find "service above self" second-nature.\r\n \r\nCandy's quick and sturdy bond with adopted son Jeremiah would melt the heart. Their devotion to and respect for one another was remarkable. Jeremiah was so bright and cheerful, respectful and kind, and had many and diverse interests and talents. Hunting and fishing brought big grins to his face, and he beamed at his adventures with family. Loved by all whose lives they touched, Candy and Jeremiah were inseparable, even in death.\r\n \r\nA memorial service for Candy and Jeremiah will be held at 2 PM Wednesday, February 17, at Kerrville Church of Christ, 1900 Loop 534, Kerrville.\r\n \r\nIn lieu of flowers, Candy's passion for Christian Women's Job Corps of Kerr County should be honored: Christian Women's Job Corps of Kerr County, 1140 Broadway, Kerrville, TX 78028, 830-895-3660, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
