Camilla Jane Young, 86, passed away on Saturday, August 30, 2014 at home surrounded by family.\r\n\r\nBorn in Midland, TX on January 12, 1928, she was the daughter of Edwin Taylor and Lela Mary (Heard) Crawford. She was raised in Midland and Lamesa, Texas by Marshall H. Crawford and Lela Mary. She graduated from Lamesa High School in 1945. Camilla had many fond memories of her childhood and still has friends from her teen years. Camilla met her husband Gordon F. Young when he was stationed at the Big Spring Army Air Corps bombardier school at the end of WWII and they married June 15, 1945.\r\nCamilla and Gordon moved to Lansdale, Pennsylvania in 1946 when Gordon took over his father's real estate business and they began their family. Camilla was a homemaker when her sons were young. To help her boys with college, she took various jobs and then settled in to a career with American Olean, where she was a color consultant and showroom manager. She retired after more than 20 years, leaving behind a personnel file filled with customer tributes.\r\n\r\nCamilla never lost touch with her Texas roots and moved back to Hunt, Texas for the last three years of her life. Family was important to Camilla and she loved to prepare amazing recipes for family and friends. She is known for her chocolate pies and Hershey cake.\r\n\r\nShe loved watching football, especially college football, appreciating art and crafts, birds outside her window, reading and gardening, especially roses. Camilla enjoyed travel and had visited many places in the United States with family and friends. She was the best storyteller in the world and shared many favorite family stories. She was a woman who taught by example the meaning of friendship, love of family, and people in general. She had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh and make others laugh.\r\n\r\nCamilla leaves behind three children, Ronald (Margy Stewart), McDowell Creek, KS; David, Taos, NM; and Stephen (Laura Lehtonen), Niskayuna, NY. She was the proud grandmother of Alexander. She also leaves her brother and sister-in-law Marshall and Roslyn Crawford and numerous nieces, nephews and friends in Pennsylvania, Texas and everywhere she went.\r\n\r\nA celebration of life will be held at the family's convenience.\r\n\r\nMemorial contributions may be made to the Hunt Garden Club, the Hunt Preservation Society or a charity of your choice.\r\n\r\n[contact-form-7 id="73" title="Send Condolences"]
