Buckner W. Bichsel passed away Thursday, October 3, 2019 in his home surrounded by his family following a series of health issues. He was 74 years old.\r\n\r\nBuckner William Bichsel was born December 16, 1944 in San Antonio, Texas to Bessie Geneva Buckner Bichsel and George Waldo Bichsel. He was a graduate of Edison High School and received higher education at San Antonio College. The Bichsel family served God as long time members of Los Angeles Heights Presbyterian Church. Buckner served his country honorably in the U.S. Army. He was employed as an aircraft mechanic for the majority of his working life.\r\n\r\nHe was preceded in death by his mother to whom he was very close; his father who was the longest serving Chief in SAPD history; a son Gene Allen Morgan and a grandson Ian.\r\n\r\nOn November 20, 2004 Buckner married Sharron Morgan in Bandera, Texas. They were long time Medina residents.\r\n\r\nSurvivors include his wife of 17 years Sharron; daughters Priscilla Bichsel-Anderson and her husband Craig, and Ashley Melana Parker; sons Buckner William Bichsel, Jr. and his significant other Theresa Rodriguez and James Ray Parker; foster children Ryan Dale and Skyler Cleveland; sister Neva Ellis and her husband James; 15 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren as well as other extended family members and treasured friends.\r\n\r\nA service will be held on Thursday, October 10, 2019 at 12 noon at Los Angeles Heights Presbyterian Church, 2002 W. Olmos Dr. in San Antonio, Texas with visitation preceding at 11:00 A.M. Interment with Military Honors will follow at 2:00 P.M. at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. The shelter assignment will not be available until the afternoon of October 9th. \r\n\r\nThe family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Peterson Hospice and all who helped with caring for the family and lending emotional support during this difficult time. \r\n\r\nFor those who wish to help ease the financial burden, monetary donations are being accepted at Grimes Funeral Chapels.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
