Blanche Lucy Edwards Langston died peacefully in her home in Pipe Creek, Texas on April 28, 2022, surrounded by her family. She had recently turned 80 on March 21st. She was born in South San Francisco, California to Blanche and Gilbert Edwards. After the death of her father, she was raised by her mother and her stepfather, Luther Edwards. She met John Langston at church, and they married May 7th, 1965 and had nine children together.
Blanche liked to be busy. When her children were young, she made 22 loaves of bread a week. She was an excellent seamstress, and loved quilting and embroidering. She was known for her signature cowboy boot Christmas stockings and homemade porcelain dolls. She also owned a scrapbooking store with one of her children for three years. Another hobby of hers was raising chickens—she particularly loved Silkies! In her later years, she took up running and even ran three half-marathons and a 5k. She also loved gardening and was particularly fond of her fig tree. She was church librarian for thirty-five years and did a lot of genealogy work.
Blanche was funny, resilient, and fierce, and she will be missed.
She is survived by her husband, John, and eight children: Luana Perry, Charlotte Walser, Natalie Haggen, Sally Khersonsky, Drew Langston, Emily Selman, and Julia Hoffer, and Jacob Langston, as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Matthew. She is also survived by her siblings: Neoma Burch, Nancy Ogan, Gilbert Edwards, Eileen Larsen, Jo Mullinex, and Luther Edwards.
Her funeral will be held at 11 am at the Boerne chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints: 203 Stonegate Road, Boerne, TX. A processional will follow and she will be buried in the Pipe Creek Cemetery.
