Billy Gene Drawe, age 95 of Kerrville, passed away Monday, April 16, 2018 in a local care center. He was born on March 29, 1923 in Ledbetter, Fayette County, Texas to Louis and Florence Drawe. He had 5 brothers and 1 sister. \r\n\r\nIn 1924, the family moved to Mercedes, Texas where Billy grew up and graduated from Mercedes High School in 1940. He joined the Marine Corps in 1942. He served his country in the Pacific Theater during World War II with the 3rd Amphibious Tractor Battalion in the recapture of Guam and the battle of Iwo Jima. \r\n \r\nHe married Alta Muriel McDermott in Beaumont, Texas on December 7, 1945. They had two children and the family moved to Boerne, Texas in 1959. After buying the Gulf Distributorship they moved to Kerrville in 1967. Billy was an active member of the Lions Club and a member of the First Methodist Church. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was truly loved by all and will be greatly missed. \r\n \r\nHe was preceded in death by his wife; parents; and 5 brothers. \r\n\r\nHe is survived by his sister, Lydel Ennis; daughter, Judy Rackley of Boerne; son, Ed Drawe (Betty) of Kerrville; grandsons both of Boerne, Jeep Rackley (Susan) and Nathan (Blue) Drawe (Mynette); and 4 great-grandchildren, Trent, Kira, Chase and Georgia.\r\n\r\nA private family memorial service will be held at a later date.\r\n\r\nMemorials can be given to the Salvation Army or Peterson Hospice.
