Bill Earwood, known among his not so close friends and debtors as Darryl, died in perfect peace and comfort at his home in Kerrville, Texas on April 7, 2016. He was born December 1, 1941 in Houston, Texas. He was a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, cousin and uncle to his immediate family. He was also a Brother in Arms, having served in the 82nd Airborne Division during his six-year enlistment where he met his match; a medic named Joyce Frakey. Bill and Joyce through an abiding love built a family; Eddie Earwood (Linda) of Corpus Christi and Carol Brewer(Tom) of Uvalde, and the lights of his life, grandchildren; Valeri Jasso (Zach and Adrianna), Marine Cpl. John Bill Earwood, Hanah Hoffmann (Hagen), Colton Hoffmann, and Baxter Brewer. His parents Darryl R Earwood and Louna Ivy Earwood Beard of Brackettville and Uvalde respectively taught him much, most of which he ignored; except for the love of fun and a strong work ethic (also listed respectively). \r\n \r\nHis grandparents, Jeff and Jane Ivy of Utopia lit the oil lamp in their one room cabin for his studies when he was only six. He grew to love the idea of learning and spent a life time enrolling in career schools and traveling down new paths while Joyce went along for the ride, albeit reluctantly sometimes. Among his many calling cards were Soldier, Ranch Hand, Roofer, Fuller Brush Salesman, Farrier, Realtor, Bus Driver, Bar Tender, Welder, Car Salesman, Truck Driver, Business Owner, Insulator, and Auto Mechanic, Clerk, Maintenance Man, Parts Salesman, Plumbers Helper and one very brief stint as a Gardner. He was known among all as the most masterful of the one-liners and a pretty fair golfer. He was a gentle man of great self-expectations. He found fulfilment at last within himself as his greatest pride came not from his vocations but his role as father, grandfather, and loving husband. \r\n \r\nBill was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Kerrville and ad Elder of the First Presbyterian Church of Uvalde. He knew and loved his savior and relied on his higher power to bring him serenity and maintain his sobriety these last 35 years. He is preceded in death by three of his four siblings; Patsy York of Brackettville, Darrylene Bauchman of Del Rio, and Raymond Earwood of Houston. Throughout his life he enjoyed the companionship and love of his brother Eddie L. Earwood and wife Kathleen of Brackettville. Also special in his heart were Donnie and Pat Sheedy and all of the other Sheedys that are a fine lot to know and love. Patsy Morris, a constant in the family, David Frakey, his brother in law and adopted son to Bill and his children. He had many other cousins, nieces and nephews which he gathered around him as much as possible to swap stories, kiss the babies and quip one-liners. He will be missed.\r\n \r\nMilitary Honors and interment will be held at Ft. Sam Houston, date to be announced. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the charity of your choice.\r\n
