Bill Gene Carney, 84, of Llano, passed away on Tuesday, November 4th. He was born in Houston, Texas on September 6, 1930. Bill graduated from Saint Thomas High School, Houston, and attended the University of Houston, where he played baseball. He joined the U.S. Navy and played for the All Navy Baseball Team. Bill met and married his wife, Glenda, in San Diego while stationed there. Bill loved hunting, fishing, cooking and gardening. He wrote several wild game cook books and published many articles on hunting, fishing and cooking in Houston newspapers. He co-founded the Redi-Smoke company. He retired in Kerrville and recently moved to Llano to be close to family. Bill spent his life as a devout Catholic.\r\n \r\nHe is survived by wife, Glenda; children, Lonny, Sherry, Randy, Danny, Stacy, Billy and Karen; 21 grandchildren; and 3 great grandchildren.\r\n \r\nFuneral mass will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 8 at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Llano. Viewing will begin at 9 AM, Saturday at the church.
