Bill Bennett

January 14, 1953 — November 19, 2017

Billy Don Bennett of Kerrville, Texas passed away on Sunday, November 19, 2017, in his home after a brave fight against cancer. He was born in Crosbyton, Texas to B.C. Bennett and Pauline (Polly) Conner on January 14, 1953. \r\n \r\nBill graduated Tivy High School in Kerrville in 1971. He went on to attend Angelo State University. Bill held a variety of positions before he found his calling as a bus driver for Kerrville Bus Company. Those that knew Bill dearly, knew his favorite things were traveling, talking and joking- driving a bus gave him the opportunity to do this and meet new people daily. His favorite trip was every summer taking a large group of students to Washington D.C. for a week with his regular driving crew. Later in life, Bill retired to help take care of his mother and became the bus driver for St. Peter's Episcopal School. The children and teachers there loved Mr. Bill and his crazy sense of humor. \r\n \r\nHe was preceded in death by his biological father, mother Polly, and stepfather Donald McClure.\r\n \r\nBill is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Kay and Larry Reichenau. Also surviving are niece Amanda Donn Hardin, her children: Dackota McCain and son Rhiott; Weslyn and Kaileigh Kirkpatrick; and Rebel Hardin; and niece Misty (Dustin) Kothe and their children Harper and Macy. Others special in his life left to remember him are his aunt Barbara Irby of Kerrville, and her daughters Saundra Briley, Donetta Irby Ray, and Milissa and Michelle Irby, and numerous aunts and uncles living out of town. \r\n \r\nMemorial services will be 2 PM, Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at Grimes Funeral Chapels with the Rev. Robert Lockaby officiating. \r\n \r\nMemorials may be made to St. Peter's Episcopal School in Kerrville.\r\n \r\nThe family appreciates all the long-term care that Donetta Irby Ray provided during his final months at home. Also, thanks to Dr. Michael Grocki and Alamo Hospice. \r\n \r\n
