Betty Carnes

May 15, 1933 — November 3, 2014

Betty Sue Carnes passed away quietly on November 3rd at Peterson Regional Medical Center in Kerrville, Texas.\r\n\r\nBorn in McKinney on May 15th, 1933, along with identical twin sister, Nancy Lou, to Mrytle and Cecil Craft, she lived 81 glorious years in the Great State of Texas, traveling all over the country, but never calling anywhere else "home."\r\n\r\nThe beautiful Craft twins set records for confusion at Hillcrest High School in Dallas, where even their closest friends could rarely tell them apart, especially since they dressed the same everywhere they went.\r\n\r\nOn purpose, of course.\r\n\r\nWhile attending SMU right down the street, Betty went to work at a Dallas bank, where she fell in love and was married to SMU graduate and fellow banker, Griffiths Carnes, on July 18, 1953.\r\n\r\nWhile the majority of her life was spent in the Dallas area, they also lived at Lake Whitney before finally retiring in the mid-80's to Kerrville.\r\n\r\nBetty is survived by her husband, Griff, and two boys, Grif Jr. and Richard, and was also a proud grandmother to three boys up in Vail, Colorado (Chris, Steve and Peer) and Griff III and Megan Harvey in the Houston area.\r\n\r\nShe also was extremely proud to be a great-grandmother - a classification that many never receive the pleasure of achieving - to Rylee Ann Carnes and Berkley Elise Harvey, two sweet little girls from Houston under the age of two that, thanks to modern technology, will always have digital video as cherished memories of their Great Grandma.\r\n\r\nServices will be held at Sparkman-Hillcrest in Dallas on November 11th at 10 AM.\r\n\r\nIn lieu of flowers the family asks that a donation be made to your favorite charity, or for those wanting to support one of Betty's causes, please consider the Joan Iman "Dementia Care Advocates of the Hill Country" (www.dietertcenter.org), the Former Texas Rangers Foundation Building Fund (www.formertexasrangers.org) or the First Presbyterian Church of Kerrville.\r\n\r\n[contact-form-7 id="73" title="Send Condolences"]\r\n
