After more than 81 years of a life well lived, Barbara Ann Wampler died peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family, on January 4, 2018.\r\n\r\nBarbara was born on October 23, 1936 to L.M. "Jack" Frank and Virginia Frank in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Barbara often told many wonderful stories of her early years and among her favorite memories were the camping and fishing trips she spent with her family. As a young woman, Barbara was baptized in the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Britton, Oklahoma.\r\n\r\nIn 1958, Barbara met the love of her life, Wendell Wampler, at work, in Oklahoma City. They were married on August 21, 1960 and their partnership endured for nearly 58 years. Leaving Oklahoma in 1969, Barbara and Wendell settled in Austin, Texas, where their work and family partnership took hold and flourished. Barbara's proudest achievement was her family and the considerable task of raising and educating three boys. \r\n\r\nWeekend family road trips in the early ‘70's often brought Barbara and Wendell and their sons through Hunt and West Kerr County along Hwy 39. They never dreamed that one day this beautiful place would be their home. So it was particularly fitting when in 1999, Barbara and Wendell settled on their beloved ranch in Hunt, Texas, where Barbara finally gained her home on a hill. \r\n\r\nThrough all the trying times and the tumult of life, Barbara often said she wished that she could do it all over again. Through use of her considerable creative talents and unwavering generosity she spread joy to her many friends and to her family throughout her life. The memories of her adventurous spirit, soothing wisdom, sharp wit and the stories she made with her family will be cherished by all who knew her.\r\n\r\nBarbara is survived by her husband, Wendell; and three sons: David and wife Melissa of Kerrville, Jay and wife Kim of Dallas, and Jerry and wife Cookie of Austin; and her grandchildren: Adam, Matthew, Blake and Ava. She is also survived by her brother Lloyd Frank and his wife Evelyn, of Tulsa, Oklahoma and nephews and niece, Mark, Cherie and Craig, also of Tulsa.\r\n\r\nThe family expresses its sincere gratitude to everyone who cared for Barbara during her final weeks, particularly the wonderful and caring staff at Peterson Hospice and Nurse Terri Taylor, as well as Roxane, Estela, Ericka and Cory.\r\n\r\nIn accordance with Barbara's wishes, no funeral services are planned.\r\n
