Austin Edward "Butch" Clarkson, II passed away peacefully at home in Kerrville, Texas on Monday, April 16,2018 after a lengthy illness.\r\n \r\nHe was born January 16, 1943, to William and Joy Clarkson in San Antonio, Texas. He would grow up in Corpus Christi, Texas around a loving family, including his sisters Barbara and Nancy Clarkson. "Butch" graduated from W. B. Ray High School in 1961.\r\n \r\nHe moved to Kerrville in 1973 to be near his parents and raise his own family. Ed worked in Kerrville as a successful home builder and entrepreneur until 1990 when he moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado to begin a new adventure with his wife Miriam. For the next twenty years, he worked at home as a freelance draftsman. He returned to Texas in 1997 and after a short stay in the Austin area, Ed proudly lived on his land outside of Lometa, Texas where he enjoyed a new passion for the rural life to include cattle, chickens, and his beloved dogs and cats. In 2008, Ed and Miriam returned to Kerrville to live near family and friends.\r\n \r\nEd, a self-taught man, was multi-faceted and was interested in everything. Over the course of his life his hobbies included reading, racquetball, scuba-diving, snow skiing, hiking, gardening, raising bird dogs, and woodworking. His quick, quiet wit and wise insitefulness endeared him to his family and friends and made him a joy to be around.\r\n \r\nEd was preceded in death by his older sister, Nancy Jennings. He is survived by his loving wife, Miriam Chambers Clarkson of Kerrville, Texas; sister, Barbara Allen of San Antonio, Texas; son, William Price Clarkson and wife, Erica of North Pole, Alaska; son, Austin Edward Clarkson, III and wife, Kim of Kerrville; step-daughter, Sarah Celeste Mixon and husband, Tray of Kerrville. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Austin Clarkson, Bela Clarkson, Preston Mixon, Rayford Mixon, William Reid Clarkson, and Westin Clarkson; and by his nephew, Lindey Jennings, and nieces, Katy Jennings and Joylyn Allen.\r\n \r\nThe family requests that memorial donations be made to the Hill Country Youth Ranch or the Schreiner University College Fund.\r\n \r\nA memorial service will be held at 2 PM, Saturday, April 21, 2018 at Grimes Funeral Chapels in Kerrville, Texas.\r\n
